Her Critical Condition
Maza’s journey began on the streets, where she was malnourished, weak, and visibly unwell. When I found her, I knew she needed immediate help. Despite my financial challenges, I took her to the vet, where we discovered she had internal injuries that required surgery.
Finding a New Home
Saving Maza was a leap of faith, but I knew she deserved a second chance. After her recovery, I found her a loving family with a home and garden, but things didn’t go as planned. Just a month later, they returned her, citing her tendency to run away and issues with incontinence.
While it was heartbreaking, I was grateful they chose to return her rather than abandon her. This time, Maza became a permanent part of my home.
Adjusting to Life Together
Integrating with Other Pets
Maza quickly became part of my growing family, which included my rescue dog Milica and four rabbits. Her medical issues, however, persisted.
Managing Her Medical Needs
Several veterinarians gave us conflicting diagnoses, ranging from nerve damage to even cancer. Eventually, we discovered that her incontinence was caused by a nerve injury.
Diapers became a part of Maza’s life, and while it was challenging, she adapted remarkably well. Her relationship with Milica evolved, and she quickly established herself as the boss of the household.
Overcoming Challenges with Love
Despite the difficulties, Maza’s spirit shone through. She started to play and bond with the family, particularly after the arrival of Mališa, a German hunting terrier mix. Together, they brought joy and chaos to our home.
Maza taught us that love and perseverance could overcome even the most challenging situations.
